Who qualifies for transportation assistance?

To qualify for Mercy Medical Angels assistance, you need to meet these criteria: Medical necessity (you're traveling for medical diagnosis, treatment or follow-up care); Financial need (your household income is at or below 300% of the Federal Poverty Guidelines based on household size); Distance requirement (your medical facility is outside your local area, typically 50+ miles one-way); Ambulatory status (you can sit upright with a seatbelt and walk with minimal assistance); and Advance notice (minimum of 7-10 days before your appointment, up to 45 days in advance). If you're unsure whether you qualify, submit a request anyway. Our team will determine your eligibility and guide you through the process. View Eligibility Information

What counts as a qualifying medical appointment?

We provide transportation assistance for a wide range of medical needs, including cancer treatment (chemotherapy, radiation and consultations), specialty consultations and second opinions, surgeries and surgical follow-ups, dialysis treatment, cardiac care and heart procedures, organ transplant evaluations and follow-up, clinical trials and research studies, mental health treatment, physical therapy and rehabilitation, and diagnostic testing (MRI, CT scans and biopsies). Both one-time appointments and recurring treatments qualify. If you're unsure whether your appointment qualifies, please submit a request or call us.

Is there an income limit to qualify?

Yes, Mercy Medical Angels serves individuals and families with financial need. Our income guidelines are based on household size and annual income. During the application process, you'll provide proof of income, and our team will review it confidentially. We also consider household size and dependents, medical expenses and debt, other financial obligations and special circumstances (job loss, disability or recent financial hardship). Don't let income concerns stop you from applying. If you're close to the guidelines or have special circumstances, submit your request anyway. Our team will work with you to determine eligibility and may be able to assist depending on your situation.
