Woman with essential tremors and severe anxiety after Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS) treatment

In Her Own Words...

"My name is Gracie. I've been living with essential tremors and severe anxiety, facing challenges with resilience. Despite constant shaking, I pursue my dreams, supported by loved ones. My service dog, Amos, is my source of strength, bringing comfort amidst difficulties."

"Doctors told me my best option for treatment was Deep Brain Stimulation, or DBS. Surgeons would implant electrodes and leads into my brain and chest. The electrical signals would go to affected parts of my brain and alleviate my symptoms. Unfortunately, the surgeon who would be able to help me best was almost 200 miles away."

"Mercy Medical Angels and American Airlines helped me. They donated charitable flights so I could go see the surgeon for DBS. Also, they helped me get to the follow-up appointments. At the follow-up appointment, the surgeon monitored my condition and adjusted stimulation settings. This ensured the effectiveness of the treatment."

"So far, the DBS treatment is working. But if it weren't for Mercy Medical Angels and American Airlines, I wouldn't be able to receive the care I needed. They helped me to maintain financial stability and increased my quality of life."

"All in all, I had a wonderful travel experience. The professionalism and warmth of your staff made the journey memorable. I appreciated the attention to detail, and look forward to future trips. I can't say thank you enough times!"
