Patient with autoimmune disorder after receiving treatment, thanks to flight assistance

Attacked by Autoimmune Disorders

Michelle lives in Montana with her husband. She works at a local office processing financial paperwork, and her husband works in construction. They don't make a lot of money. Still, it's always been enough to get by.

Or at least it was. Michelle started having problems with swallowing and breathing. Her husband rushed her to the doctors, and got sobering news. Michelle had myasthenia gravis, an autoimmune disorder that attacked the connections between skeletal muscles and nerves.

New Plan

Michelle realized she needed a new plan for treatment. The doctors in her hometown couldn't do anything for her. However, there was a team of specialists in the Phoenix, Arizona location of Mayo Clinic. She was referred to the specialists. Her journey to a better life was just starting.

On Angel's Wings

It was then that Michelle encountered a problem. "I didn't have the money or resources to be able to get there," said Michelle. The specialists were more than 900 miles away by air, but she couldn't afford a ticket. Driving would take multiple days. She didn't know how she would make it.

That is, until she learned about Mercy Medical Angels. She applied for assistance and heard back quickly. Mercy Medical Angels partnered with United Airlines to provide flight assistance for Michelle's treatment. Now, she is beginning to find answers and treatment, and her life is improving.

"An Answer To Prayer"

When asked how Mercy Medical Angels and United Airlines helped her, Michelle's answer fills to the brim with thankfulness and relief.

"Mercy Medical Angels and United Airlines have truly been an answer to prayer," said Michelle. "None of my treatment would be possible without your flight assistance - thank you!"
