Stories from Grateful Patients: Miradieu

In His Family's Words...
"Miradieu was diagnosed with Tetralogy of Fallot, a combination of four different defects that change how blood flows through the heart. We searched for help over three years, and finally managed to find a heart surgeon in New Orleans, Louisiana. There was civil unrest in our home country, which delayed Miradieu being able to travel for his life-saving operation. But the problems didn't stop there. We couldn't afford to fly to New Orleans and back again."
"Mercy Medical Angels arranged flights with help from American Airlines' charitable arm, Miles for Our Well-Being. They made it possible for Miradieu to fly to New Orleans for heart surgery, and back home again. His older brother came with him. "
"When Miradieu arrived at the hospital, doctors could tell how sick he was just by looking at him. After surgery, Miradieu was a brand new child! He's eating lots of food, and he can walk more easily. The teams at Mercy Medical Angels and American Airlines - they are truly incredible. Thanks to them, Miradieu will have many opportunities in life."
