Cancer patient who accessed medical care thanks to gas cards

In His Own Words...

“I was diagnosed with liver cancer and pancreatic cancer, back in 2006. I have had six surgeries and none of them have put the cancer into remission. I started getting a procedure called TACE to shrink the tumors in my liver. After finishing TACE, the doctors plan to operate on my liver.”

“Due to this illness and the effects of treatment, I am no longer able to work. I receive disability payments, but they barely cover my household expenses and my medical bills. This is a problem because I drive to my treatments and scans. The round trip covers more than 100 miles and lasts longer than 2 hours. I can’t afford the amount of gas that I would need for these long drives.”

“Mercy Medical Angels sent me gas cards. Because of them, I can drive to my treatments and scans without worrying about the cost of gas. I am able to receive the care I need at Kirklin Clinic in Birmingham, Alabama – which I would not have been able to do if Mercy Medical Angels didn’t provide transportation assistance. My quality of life has improved, and I am maintaining my physical and mental wellness.”

“Mercy Medical Angels helped me so much, and they help thousands of others who are going through similar problems. They’re truly amazing.”
