Stories from Grateful Patients: Elisabet

Girl with osteogenesis imperfecta after receiving care in the U.S.

In Her Family's Words...

“My daughter Elisabet and I live in Honduras. Elisabet has Osteogenesis Imperfecta, also known as brittle bone disease. She couldn’t walk because her bones were so fragile. The treatment she needs isn’t available in our home country.”

“Back in 2020, when Elisabet was seven years old, Mercy Medical Angels arranged medical travel for us. We were approved for American Airlines’ charitable flight program, Miles for Our Well-Being, and made it to a hospital in Philadelphia. The doctors took very good care of Elisabet and improved her quality of life.”

“Elisabet is now 11 years old. She is going through growth spurts. Because of this, she needs follow-up appointments in Philadelphia. Mercy Medical Angels and Miles for Our Well-Being have come to our aid once again. We’re able to access the care Elisabet needs thanks to them.”

“Everyone helped us the whole way. Our flights on American Airlines were great. Elisabet’s quality of life is improving because of the transportation assistance. Mercy Medical Angels and Miles for Our Well-Being, thank you so much. A thousand thanks!”
