Leukemia Patient Finds Treatment, Thanks to Gas Cards

Grim Diagnosis
Alberto lives in a small town in North Carolina with his family. Both he and his wife worked, and together brought in enough income to afford what they needed and wanted. Unfortunately, fate threw a wrench in the gears when Alberto was diagnosed with leukemia.
Money Troubles
Due to his diagnosis, Alberto was no longer able to work and needed a caregiver. His wife stepped into that role, but it meant she had to take unpaid time off from her job. This made it difficult to afford even necessities.
One expense was unforeseen: the cost of gas for driving back and forth to treatment. "It's a 70 mile round trip to and from the hospital," said Alberto.
Light At The Tunnel's End
But despite the difficulty Alberto faced in accessing treatment, he wasn't giving up. He applied for Mercy Medical Angels' ground transportation program. Mercy Medical Angels sent him gas cards. Now he was seeing a light at the tunnel's end - the light of hope and healing.
"Mercy Medical Angels, Thank You!"
Alberto is back home now. He'll probably need more treatments in the future, but now he knows he's not alone. Mercy Medical Angels will continue to help him - until he beats Leukemia.
"If I hadn't received assistance from Mercy Medical Angels," said Alberto, "I wouldn't have been able to find the care I needed. Mercy Medical Angels, thank you!"
