Veteran Receives Distant Care, Thanks to Free Gas Cards

Veteran who is receiving distant care after an organ transplant thanks to free gas cards

Fighting a Different Battle

Darrell is a Veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps. He's experienced battle and got out in one piece. Lately, though, he's been fighting a different sort of battle. He needed an organ transplant, and managed to receive it. But there was a high risk of his body rejecting the transplant. He needed specialized care to ensure that wouldn't happen.

From Distance...

Unfortunately, Darrell's treatment involved driving - and a lot of it. He needed to go from his home in Wilmington, North Carolina to a hospital in Charleston, South Carolina. "It's an eight hour round trip," said Darrell. "I can't afford the gas."

...To Destination

That was when Darrell heard about Mercy Medical Angels. He applied for help and was accepted. Mercy Medical Angels sent him free gas cards. Now, he is able to afford the gas. "It helps to relieve some of the financial burden," said Darrell.

"The Gas Cards Help So Much..."

Darrell will need more help with accessing care in the near future. But he trusts that Mercy Medical Angels will be able to support him on his journey.

"The gas cards help so much with expenses," said Darrell. "I wouldn't be able to receive the care I need if it weren't for Mercy Medical Angels sending me gas cards. Thanks a million!"
