Trevor: Finding Silver Linings

February 13, 2021

Trevor's Introduction

Trevor is a Veteran who lives in Vacaville, California. His hometown is situated between Sacramento and San Francisco. A highlight of Vacaville is the annual Fiesta Day that celebrates the town’s history.

However, Trevor doesn’t always get to enjoy the attractions. He struggles with combat-related health problems - specifically Post-Traumatic Stress.

From Storms...

His local doctor suggested a healing retreat at Lone Survivor Foundation. There was just one problem. The retreat center was in Fayetteville, North Carolina – more than 2,300 miles away from Trevor’s home in Vacaville. A round-trip commercial flight would be far too expensive.

Trevor didn’t have many options, and his quality of life was decreasing by the day. What was he supposed to do?

...To Silver Linings

That was when Mercy Medical Angels’ program for Veterans came in. They arranged travel with American Airlines so Trevor could fly to Fayetteville for the retreat. Best of all, he didn’t have to pay a cent – the flight was provided at no cost.

“For the first time in years,” said Trevor, “I was able to take some time out for myself and really focus on my mental health.”

“I really enjoyed it.”

"I Wouldn't Have Been Able to Get There..."

Now, Trevor is doing much better. The transportation assistance from Mercy Medical Angels’ program for Veterans increased his quality of life. It helped maintain his financial stability as well. Without worrying about how to pay for long-distance travel, Trevor can really focus on his healing journey.

“I wouldn’t have been able to get there if it weren’t for Mercy Medical Angels,” said Trevor. “Thank you!”

When Veterans like Trevor face challenges, it can seem like their lives are covered in storm clouds. But with help from Mercy Medical Angels’ program for Veterans, they can find a silver lining.
