Veteran who participated in adaptive sports via charitable transportation

In His Own Words...

“I'm a retired disabled veteran who served in the U.S Army. I became very ill while serving my country and had to be honorably discharged for disability. It has been a long time – I have been disabled for over 20 years now. Sometimes I still cry for not being able to be a lifer in the Army.”

“I have kidney problems where I needed to have a transplant, and I am an amputee. I also have diabetes, nerve complications, and other conditions that are involved with my disability. Because of this, I use a mobile wheelchair to travel with, and I take quite a bit of medicine to maintain my health.”

“In 2019, I had medical appointments in Charlotte, North Carolina. Then in 2022, I got approved to go to the National Veteran Wheelchair Games. It’s an adaptive sports event. That year, it was in Louisville, Kentucky. But I live near Atlanta, Georgia. It would have been too far to drive, and I couldn’t afford a plane ticket. I had no idea how I would get there.”

“Angel Wings for Veterans flew me to my medical appointments in 2019. They also helped me with transportation to the National Veteran Wheelchair Games in 2022. I was very happy that Angel Wings for Veterans was able to take care of travel costs. I love that you are able to take care of veterans with disabilities and for the caregivers. Just keep up the good work.”

“God blessed me with Angel Wings for Veterans. I just can’t thank you enough!”
