Patient with endometrial cancer doing advocacy work at a conference

In Her Own Words...

"In 2020, I was diagnosed with third-stage endometrial cancer. I could not get surgery or treatment in the US Virgin Islands, where I live. Having no access to medical treatment for specific needs in the USVI has been difficult to manage emotionally and financially."

"Hurricane Maria caused major damaged to our health care infrastructure.  So I had to fly to Johns Hopkins in Baltimore for surgery and Sibley Memorial in Washington, D.C. for treatment. But traveling from the islands can be challenging. There are no direct flights. Also, travel time in the air and at the airports can be taxing physically. I have to prepare to travel at least two days in advance, in case of cancellations or delays."

"It is such a mental relief to know that my airplane tickets are taken care of by Mercy Medical Angels. I don't have to worry about increased financial struggles. Mercy Medical Angels helped me so much, and now that my health has improved, I can help others. I've been doing advocacy work for other people with endometrial cancer."

"I am always appreciative of Mercy Medical Angels and their support!"
