Stories from Grateful Patients: Angelina

September 5, 2023

In Her Own Words...

“In March of 2021 I was diagnosed with a rare neuroendocrine tumor that was attached to my spinal cord. My doctors, in Portland, Oregon, felt like I needed to go to MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas. I had two surgeries at MD Anderson Cancer Center in August of 2021. I had to travel back and forth every 3 months for the first year of treatment, then once every 6 months. I will need this for the rest of my life.”

“My husband and I are on an extremely limited income. We are currently seeking assistance on even getting my medical bill paid. We are completely over our heads with medical debt. This means we can't afford airline tickets for my follow up visits.”

“Mercy Medical Angels helped me travel to and from MD Anderson Cancer Center by booking charitable flights. I flew with United Airlines and Southwest Airlines, and my flights were all great. The transportation assistance from Mercy Medical Angels helped me to maintain financial stability and increased my quality of life. I wouldn’t be here if it weren’t for Mercy Medical Angels, so thank you from the bottom of my heart!”
