Mercy Medical Angels Helps Cancer Patient with Bus Ticket

A Cancer Patient's Story

I had my bladder and prostate removed due to a stage 4 tumor on March 27, 2020. I spent a week at Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa Florida after surgery. I was traveling from Ft. Myers, Fl to Tampa, Fl for my final check-up and pathology review after surgery.

I usually use the American Cancer Society volunteers, but their service was suspended due to the Coronavirus. I am an epileptic so I cannot operate a motor vehicle in the state where I live. I needed bus tickets to get to my treatment but couldn’t afford them.

The ACS referred me to Mercy Medical Angels to see if they could help me with bus tickets on such short notice. The transportation coordinators worked tirelessly to assist me. All of them were pleasures during my intake and made me feel very much at ease discussing my situation - which I find very difficult. They both followed up to make sure I was 100% taken care of. They should be commended for their compassion. They are angels!

I was approved immediately. Knowing this made my week so much easier. Your service is very important to a lot of people who may not tell you. We all appreciate what you do very, very much. Many thanks!

-Richard
