Stories from Grateful Patients: Reid

November 21, 2023
College student after cancer treatment thanks to charitable gas cards

In His Family's Words...

“In November 2022, Reid had a chest x-ray. It discovered a softball-sized tumor. The doctors diagnosed him with T cell lymphoblastic leukemia. We had to go to CHKD in Norfolk for his regular treatments. When he needed radiation, he went to Sentara next to CHKD.”

“Reid’s cancer treatments required a lot of driving back and forth. The high cost of gas for frequent trips combined with Reid’s medical bills put us under financial strain. We didn’t know how we would continue his treatment.”

“Mercy Medical Angels sent us gas cards to help with all the medical trips. They really helped us maintain stability and wellness in a difficult time. Best of all, Reid went into remission. He’ll take pills for a year to make sure the cancer stays away. He’s currently in college and doing great.”

“We appreciate everything Mercy Medical Angels does to assist people and families such as ours. We can’t thank them enough!”
