Brain Cancer Patient Accesses Life-Saving Care

Battling Brain Cancer
Christopher has a rare form of brain cancer called oligodendroglioma. This kind of cancer starts on the "branches" of brain cells called glial cells. The cancer often goes undetected, until it spreads to other parts of the brain. When that happens, it can cause problems such as seizures.
The doctors discovered Christopher had brain cancer before too many complications arose. Either way, the battle for survival had begun.
Backing Up...
It turned out that Christopher couldn't access the care he needed in his Western Kentucky hometown. He would have to travel to Houston, Texas. Doctors at MD Anderson Cancer Center would be able to help him. There was a high chance he would win the battle.
Christopher soon faced another problem. And it wouldn't be easy to solve. Neither he nor his wife are able to work. As a result, the costs of travel were out of reach. How would Christopher access the care he needed?
...Not Backing Down
That was when Christopher found out about Mercy Medical Angels. With funding from the Hogan Family Foundation, Mercy Medical Angels arranged charitable flights for Christopher. This enabled him to receive life-saving care at MD Anderson Cancer Center.
"We travel without stress," said Christopher, "knowing that all the details are taken care of." Since he doesn't have to worry about being under further strain, he can focus on healing.
"We Are Just So Thankful..."
Christopher's battle against brain cancer isn't over yet. But now, he doesn't have to fight alone. Mercy Medical Angels and the Hogan Family Foundation will continue to help him - until he reaches victory.
"We are just so thankful for Mercy Medical Angels and the Hogan Family Foundation," said Christopher. "Without this program, I wouldn't be able to get life-saving medical treatment. You are changing so many lives and helping so many people. Thank you!"
