What are the income guidelines?
Our current income guidelines are based on total household income. We collect the necessary documents to confirm this and will let you know if you qualify for this program.
Do I need to pay anything out of pocket?
Yes. There is an administration fee associated with booking. These fees are on a sliding scale based on total gross household income which are determined once we have reviewed income documentation submitted.
Do you offer reimbursement for flight tickets that I have already purchased?
No. We do not offer reimbursement for flights that have already been purchased.
How often can I receive flight assistance?
We offer patients a round-trip flight once per month. This is based on current resource availability and is subject to change.
Do you provide one way trips?
If you are already at your treatment facility, we are unable to provide a one way trip home. We typically book round trip flights for patients traveling from home to their appointment and back home.
What if I have to stay for an extended time and my return date is unknown?
If you are anticipating an extended stay for your treatment, we are able to provide a one way trip there and a one way trip home when you are ready to return home.
Do you provide assistance for non-medical travel?
No. Our commercial program is only able to assist for medically necessary travel.
Do you provide international travel?
No. We do not currently have international travel resources available.
What are the physical requirements for Commercial travel?
Patients must be able to sit on their own once in their seat and require little to no medical attention. If you require a wheelchair, patients must be able to transfer out of a wheelchair into their seat on the aircraft with assistance (they cannot have someone literally pick them up and place them in the seat).
What happens if I need to bring extra medical equipment or require oxygen?
Please contact the airline regarding your extra equipment. Commercial airlines require no less than 48 hours advance notice to prepare for the equipment needed. The patient is responsible for making these arrangements and paying any travel fees associated with the oxygen or extra medical equipment.
Do you provide ground transportation after the flight?
We provide an UBER voucher for patients that qualify to secure round trip travel to their appointment and then back to the airport.
Can I travel the same day as my appointment?
We book all round trip flights the day before and the day after your appointment to ensure you will not miss your appointment. Please plan to have lodging ready. If you have extenuating circumstances, please contact the Air Travel coordinator to discuss
further.
