Child after receiving specialized surgery, thanks to gas cards

Needing Specialized Surgery

Andres is a three-year-old boy who lives in Georgia. Like most kids his age, he enjoys going outdoors and marveling at the world around him. But recently, his health has prevented him from venturing too far.

He developed a clot in a major blood vessel near his liver. This was leading to complications, which would require a specialized surgery.

From Big Questions and Strife...

Katheryn, Andres' mother, soon found herself face-to-face with big questions. She's a single mother, and can't hold a job due to her son's complex medical needs. Paying for medical bills on top of the usual expenses was hard enough. Making matters even more difficult, the best surgeon for Andres was in Orlando, Florida - more than 500 miles away. How was she supposed to afford the costs of transportation?

...To Better Quality of Life

That was when Katheryn found out about Mercy Medical Angels. She applied for assistance and was approved. Mercy Medical Angels sent her gas cards, so she could drive Andres to and from Orlando for his surgery. "They helped us have financial stability," said Katheryn, "and improved Andres' quality of life."

Now that Andres has received the surgery he needed, he can go back to exploring and having fun outside. He has many bright days ahead - thanks to Mercy Medical Angels.
